One of the best of your writings Samira Apu. The exceptional part of this piece is, the memories you shared are so relatable to many but it still is yours and yours only. I can almost see this in a flash just by reading it but can’t get into it because it belongs to YOU, so so personal. I am not sure if what I feel makes any sense but this blog is beautiful, so fulfilling for the heart of a reader
This was heart-wrenching in so many ways. Bc of my father’s job, we had to shift our house frequently. It used to feel as if I’m leaving a part of me in each of those houses (or should I call home?). But the truth is those rentals are living in my mind rent-free.
Loved reading this! I imagined myself in all your homes and with you on all the moves. Beautifully written.
As someone born and raised in UK, I do have to say that owning a home status is overrated. Having a mortgage, that your paying for 20 years and where home can be taken if you can’t keep up with payments is kind of the same as renting.
I have always loved your writing! But this one hits home. Living in this country as a renter is not easy, more from an emotional point of view than from financial. Being made to feel all sort of stupid and wasteful and what not. Thank you for writing this. I feel a bit less alone now 🥲🖤
Gorgeous writing, thanks for giving us this peek into your life and the memories of your homes! Beautifully said.
Thank you so much for reading Molly, for your kind words and for choosing to subscribe to Letters from London! It means a lot to me.
Uff Uff girl ♥️ how you speak our heart so beautifully. You make us cry 🥺 I love you
